Case Study | Askham Bryan

The Project

This project involved the design and build of two new animal management centres which John Wright Electrical and Mechanical Contractors of Yorkshire were excited to complete.

The Solution

The works involved carrying out the main electrical and mechanical services including P.V systems, BMS control strategy, lighting and controls, Heating and ventilation to enable this project to achieve BREEAM excellent. The difficulty with this project was bringing the new teaching areas together with the interpretation south corridor.
With the amount of glass within the architect’s design we had to carefully consider both solar gain and the heating and ventilation control strategy to carefully balance systems to ensure a comfortable working and visitor environment. Lighting was designed and installed utilizing a combination of LED and T5 fluorescent complete with Ex-Or dimmable controls.
Other Services designed and installed within this scheme were General power, data installations including fiber network to link to site wide network, Lightning protection, access control, addressable fire alarm.
