Main Contractor : William Anelay Ltd
Client: Wentworth Castle Trust
Type: Specified
Procurement: Tendered and Negotiated
Location: Wentworth, South Yorkshire
Project Value: £240,000
The Project
This project involved the building of a new visitor centre attached to the existing Victorian conservatory and the refurbishment of the existing conservatory.
The Solution
The works involved carrying out the main electrical and mechanical services including rainwater harvesting, under floor heating, etc.
The difficulty with this project was bringing the new visitor centre together with the conservatory in aspects of lighting, heating etc. The heating within the conservatory was carried out utilising gilled tube heating around the perimeter and within the existing floor ducting. The main visitor centre utilised under floor heating with main condensing system boilers within the plant room.
The new roof on the visitor centre had a seeded roof irrigation system installed as part of the works to assist with the carbon footprint of the building.
The rainwater harvesting system installed utilised both new and existing underground water tanks to feed the new toilet facilities within the new visitor centre.
The scheme required a complex BMS (Building Management System) along with pulsed metering to enable conformity with Breeam regulations.
The lighting has been carried out using various different lighting manufactures to offer an aesthetically pleasing solution to the end users of the building. This included the use of LED and dimmable controls with a central static invertor being used for the emergency lighting.
Other elements of our works involved with this project were Mains distribution, data, fire alarm, General power, Hot water services, mains Gas services and intruder alarm to offer the client a total end solution.
