Mechanical and Electrical Contractors | North Yorkshire NHS | York

The Project

This project is a new build which John Wright Electrical Mechanical and Electrical Contractors of York, were delighted to take on. It involves the supply, installation, testing and commissioning of all M & E packages to provide a new 22 bed Women’s Low Secure Unit ( WLSU ) along with administration support.

The Solution

The systems have been installed to provide security, comfort and peace of mind to both patients and staff. This is afforded due to the complex safety systems being installed including the very latest in panic alarm systems and fingerprint technology to the door access systems.

The heating has been designed and installed utilising the latest in ceiling mounted panel heaters to provide heating to the bedrooms and circulation areas. These were supplied by 2 No dual fuel Viessmann 225kw boilers along with associated BMS controls.

Sanitary ware has been installed utilising specialist equipment due to the anti-ligature nature of the use of the building with automatic controls to the sinks, toilets and shower units.

Ventilation has been afforded by the use of Various AHU’s and independent local extract fans

The mains services already on site meant that a new 372m run of 180mm MDPE Gas pipe was installed along with 90mm MDPE water service and associated along with monitored metering back to the main BMS systems.

A new BMS system has been installed to control and monitor heating, hot water, gas, Generator, lift, fire alarm and window systems.

New Electrical distribution has been installed utilising both essential and non essential supplies via means of a new 130KVA generator back up system installed to the new panel board. Local distribution via sub main cabling and local distribution boards have been installed throughout the new build.

Lighting has been installed utilising both Anti ligature fittings to the bedroom areas and a combination of HF fluorescent and LED fittings to communal / administration areas

New fibre optic and Cat6 cabling has been installed by ourselves to accommodate the new data and Wi-Fi and CCTV systems back to the existing building within Clifton House.

Other systems installed as part of the works include :-

General small power, Lighting / emergency lighting, Staff alarm system. CCTV, Door access, TV installation
